In light of the horrific events that began October 7, 2023, HaMoked sent an urgent demand to the Israeli military regarding its obligations to protect the lives of its citizens and residents who entered the Gaza Strip with a military permit before the fighting began and who now cannot leave Gaza to return home.
HaMoked noted that hundreds of Israeli citizens and residents are currently in the Gaza Strip, having entering with humanitarian and other permits given to them by the military, including spouses of Gaza residents and Israelis who entered Gaza to visit sick relatives or to attend relatives’ weddings or funerals.
These Israelis fear for their lives and are asking to return back to their country. Israel must act immediately and to take all necessary steps to enable them to return home as soon as possible.
