2020 Activity Report: HaMoked assisted over 4,000 individuals and families, with a high success rate

In January 2021 HaMoked published its annual activity report for the previous year, during which HaMoked assisted 4,051 individuals and families.

In 2020, HaMoked filed over 100 petitions on behalf of individuals, as well as dozens of principled petitions on various issues. For example, in July, HaMoked petitioned the High Court of Justice (HCJ) to demand the state dismantle a section of the Separation Barrier, which prevents three rural communities from accessing their farmlands inside the West Bank. In November we demanded that the HCJ compel the military to stop its routine practice of night-time arrests of Palestinian teenagers. These petitions are still ongoing. Also this year, the Court for Administrative Affairs issued a precedential judgment in HaMoked’s petition, whereby, a person cannot be stripped of their status in Israel as punishment for acts committed by someone else. Additionally, two homes were saved as part of HaMoked’s fight against the policy of punitive demolitions.

Alongside its routine activities, HaMoked also fought against arbitrary restrictions which were imposed on Palestinians on the pretext of the Coronavirus crisis. In this context, HaMoked also succeeded to get the Israel Prison Service to allow incarcerated minors classified as “security inmates” to have regular phone contact with their families who could not visit them because of the pandemic situation.
