State Attorney’s Office notice on HCJ 2797/93 Gharbit v. Ministry of Interior

State Attorney's Office notice following ACRI's petition to instruct the Ministry of Interior to permit the spouses of women who are permanent residents of Israel to be granted status as part of family unification procedures, in the same way that it permits spouses of men who are permanent residents. The State Attorney's office announces that the Minister of Interior has decided the sex of the applicant will have no bearing on family unification requests, and each request will be reviewed in its own right, subject to a lack of security or criminal blocks, and pursuant to proof that the couple are married, reside in Israel, and their registered address is in Israel.
